Social Media = Self Conflict ?
Happy Monday! I'm Kelly Casey, a communications major at Texas Lutheran University.
I am conducting research to investigate social media's affect on society's self esteem. I am expecting to find results for ways this that show social media can have both positive and negative affects on your self esteem but primarily negative affects on women.
To better analyze this I plan on creating posts and twitter polls to find people who have taken a break from social media due to its negative affects and talking to them about how social media made them feel before they took the break, how they felt during their break and how they felt after. I would also like to find threads discussing these negative affects but also threads that show how social media can be a positive!
My biggest concern is that I won't get honest answers if I take a poll or will find too much information where my results become very unspecific and disorganized. I am excited to look into social media's affects on self esteem and hope to have a better understanding on how to prevent this by the end of my research.
Any pointers, suggestions, questions or concerns will be greatly appreciated!
